Automated Pipe Fitting Vision Inspection & Packaging Line for Indonesian Injection Molding Factory
2026-07-24
Project Overview
This turnkey automated inspection solution was deployed at an Indonesian pipe fitting manufacturer’s production facility. The system is fully integrated with the customer’s existing injection molding process, realizing unmanned handling from molded part discharge to final packaging, with high-precision visual quality inspection in between. Designed for round-the-clock production, it replaces manual visual inspection, significantly improves detection consistency, and reduces labor cost and product defect outflow.
Production Workflow
Discharge from Injection Molding Machine
Molded pipe fittings are discharged directly from the injection molding machine onto a conveyor belt, eliminating manual transfer and secondary contamination.
Conveyor Belt Feeding
The conveyor belt transports parts steadily to the vibratory bowl feeder, matching the takt time of the injection molding machine and ensuring continuous upstream supply.
Vibratory Bowl Feeder Orientation
The custom-engineered vibratory bowl feeder sorts and orients pipe fittings in a unified posture, feeding them one by one into the inspection station in a stable, orderly manner.
8-Camera Vision Inspection System
Parts enter the rotary-indexing inspection machine, where eight industrial cameras arranged at multiple angles capture full-surface images. The vision system inspects:
Qualified parts automatically flow into the downstream packaging machine for counting and bagging/boxing. Rejected (NG) parts are discharged separately through the dedicated NG outlet. Operators can simply clean or rework defective parts and feed them back into the line for re-inspection, minimizing material waste.
Key Technical Highlights
360° all-round inspection via 8 cameras with no blind spots on outer surface, inner wall and end faces
Stable and repeatable detection accuracy, eliminating human eye fatigue and missed judgment
Modular design, easy to integrate with existing injection molding and packaging equipment
User-friendly HMI for parameter adjustment, production data statistics and defect type analysis
Customer Benefits
Reduced manual inspection workforce and labor cost
Improved product outgoing quality and lowered customer complaint rate
Real-time production quality data traceable for process optimization
Reduced scrap rate through cleanable and re-inspectable NG parts
Enhanced production automation level and overall plant efficiency
Summary
This integrated vision inspection and packaging line has helped the Indonesian customer build a fully automated quality control link from injection molding to finished product packaging. It is a typical application of machine vision in the plastic pipe fitting industry, suitable for injection molding factories pursuing high efficiency, high yield and stable quality.
